how to support a postpartum mama

Do you have a new mama in your life?

One of the best ways to support a new mama is to bring her a meal. It can be home-cooked, or her favourite takeout. Something warm, nourishing and easily digestible as she recovers from her birth. Bonus if you drop it off at her door without expectations of an invitation (sometimes we just need a warm meal and time with the baby!)

Bring her a tea or golden milk when you visit, something soothing calming and warm

Go to the grocery store for her, pick up some snacks, drop off some diapers, let her know you’re there for her, whatever she needs!

Check in on her: call or text and make sure she is doing ok, the early days can be emotional, exhausting and exciting, and a friend to share these feelings with is priceless

Encourage her! Becoming a mama is tough, remind her she’s doing a great job, no matter how she’s feeling
